Synthetic Chains

chain handling
Dyneema® for chains: The missing link?

Did you know that chains made with Dyneema® fiber weigh up to 85% less than comparable steel link chain alternatives? That these user-friendly chains can triple productivity? And that they are safer to use and make life easier for operators?

The traditional steel or iron link chain is about to head into the sunset. There’s a new, modern solution in town: synthetic link chains made with super strong, super light Dyneema® fiber. If you work in a heavy industry like materials handling or transport and logistics, or a special-requirements market like defense, logging, and mining, this emerging technology is good news for you.

Dyneema® is the world’s strongest fiber – as strong and reliable as steel. But at just 15% the weight of steel at the same strength, employing products made with Dyneema® can change the way you do business.

Synthetic link chains with Dyneema® are stronger

Synthetic Chain carryingWhether you’re looking to lift heavy equipment or hold something in place, synthetic link chains made with Dyneema® are significantly stronger than steel link chains at the same diameter – or equally strong but massively lighter at smaller diameters. So what do you want: more strength at the same weight, or the same strength with less weight? Now you have a choice.

Synthetic link chains with Dyneema® are lighter

Dyneema® is ideal for lashing down, towing, heavy mooring, and offshore. Chains made with Dyneema® are lighter than the equivalent steel link chain, making them easier to handle. They also don’t recoil or whip back the way steel chains can, which makes them safer too.

Synthetic link chains with Dyneema®: 7 proven benefits

safer iconSafer: Synthetic link chains made with Dyneema® don’t recoil violently and so cause fewer injuries.

quieter iconQuieter: Steel link chains make lots of noise. Synthetic link chains with Dyneema® are quietly efficient.

less damaging iconLess damaging: Heavy, steel link chains can and do damage cargo in transit. Chains made with Dyneema®.

lighter iconLighter: Dyneema® fiber is not only up to 15 times stronger than steel on a weight-for-weight basis, it’s eight times lighter at equal strength. Result: a 300% reduction in handling time and significant labor savings.

non-conductive iconNon-conductive: Dyneema® fiber is a natural insulator that prevents sparks in electrostatic environments, so protecting workers and equipment from dangerous electrical currents.

greener iconGreener: Synthetic link chains with Dyneema® have a low carbon footprint during production, use, and end of life – good for people, planet, and profit.

durable iconDurable: Synthetic link chains with Dyneema® prevent mechanical damage to equipment, extending lifetimes and lowering maintenance costs.

Stats & Facts

• 6 to 8 times lighter than a steel link chain at equal strength
• Floats on water due to specific weight of less than 1.0 g/cm3
• Lower weight allows manufacture of much longer and stronger chains
• Lighter, longer and stronger lengths can increase productivity by up to a factor of three
• Only 4% elongation at break is ideal for demanding, high precision tie-down tasks
• Link dimensions no more than 1.5 times bigger than steel chain at equal strength
• Available in SK62, SK75, SK78 and DM20 fiber versions for differing strength and for applications under dynamic as well under permanent load
