The material offers exceptional strength and fatigue resistance compared to polyester and stainless steel, is fully biocompatible and elicits less inflammatory and irritation responses than polyester while promoting equal or better healing. Available in several grades and diameters, Dyneema Purity® is already being used in many areas today, and is ideally suited for developing a wide variety of next-generation applications.

Orthopedic and spinal medical devices.
• In demanding applications like sports medicine, the high strength, lower profile, softness and abrasion resistance of Dyneema Purity® are very valuable assets. Over time, the material’s low elongation and fatigue resistance offer a superior alternative to traditional materials for surgeons and device manufacturers. Some typical uses include: high-strength sutures, ligament repair, arthroscopic procedures, motion-preserving spinal applications, trauma and surgery of the spine (cervical, lumbar, lamina).
Cardiovascular applications
• In endovascular applications, a reduction in the French size enables catheter-based therapies to better navigate tortuous anatomy and cross difficult lesions.With low profile constructions and low coefficient of friction (COF), Dyneema Purity® supports easy sliding against other materials (e.g. inside a catheter) And compared to other fiber materials, Dyneema Purity® is much more resistant to abrasion, a critical difference in dynamic situations such as catheter-based therapies.
