Ropes for off-shore mooring and installation

We’re with you as deep as you want to go.

Offshore developments go further off shore and work in deeper waters, there is renewed pressure to work faster, push deadlines, cut budgets, and drive operations harder—in weather and conditions that can rattle the toughest nerves. All this while still trying to maintain the highest standards of safety for your crews—and remain profitable for your shareholders.

To answer this call, rope and sling manufacturers are “pushing the envelope” of performance, using the unique properties of Dyneema® to create platform mooring ropes, turret pull-in ropes, installation lines, lifting slings, and riser tensioning ropes that out-perform traditional versions of these products.

In these applications, Dyneema® beats steel for strength, (while cutting weight) and offers the benefits of a soft material (without the elongation of polyester.) Lines made with Dyneema® require no re-lubrication, which contributes to a cleaner environment.

We are “with you when it matters” in challenging situations:

Seismology uses.

•  In towing arrays, where high-strength, low-diameter ropes reduce drag and improve safety on board.

Exploration, drilling & production.

• In mooring systems where our proven performance has become industry standard. Dyneema® SK78 is the only HMPE fiber approved by Bureau Veritas and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to be used for offhshore platform mooring systems. In fact, installation and hook up is much faster with lines made with Dyneema®, compared to traditional polyester or wire ropes.

• In extreme-depth situations, (up to 10,000 feet) where the reduced rope diameter means three times longer lengths can be rolled onto reels compared to polyester, which translates into fewer trips.

Installation / Pipe laying.

• In a variety of uses that address the continuing quest to work in deeper waters. Dyneema® replaces steel wire— with an 85% weight reduction, size for size, so that larger winches or sheaves are not required. Complete winch capacity is available for lifting at every water depth
