Diamond Background

We’ve worked to protect people and the environment they live in for many years. In fact, in 2022 we celebrated 25 years of breakthrough Dyneema® fiber development that’s paved the way for high-tenacity polyethylene fiber. And we marked 10 years since Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology first set a whole new standard infiber performance, enabling ballistic inserts made with Dyneema® to weigh less than 1 kg and to stop 7.62x39mm (M43) projectiles.

Today, Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology is considered a foundational solution for developing novel anti-ballistic applications. That’s why we’re proud to have launched our first European-made soft ballistic grade of Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology, meeting the needs of even more of our ballistic armor manufacturing partners.

Meet a new member of the Dyneema® family in Europe

Dyneema® SB125 offers a comprehensive range of critical features, including long-term stability and high performance at low weight. A large-size vest package made with Dyneema® SB125 weighing less than 1.5 kg has been proven to stop a 7.62x25 mm Lead Core Tokarev – while still meeting the market’s demand for fragmentation protection. After all, we focus on what’s important: our material is used in theater, so we’re determined to deliver a solution that’s not only lightweight, but also highly flexible.

So that’s protecting people covered, but what about the environment? No problem: customers have the option of using bio-based Dyneema® fiber to produce Dyneema® SB125, enabling us to decrease its carbon footprint by more than 30% – another important step in our ongoing sustainability journey.

The proven performance of Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology

Of course, we know the European market is extremely diverse in terms of its anti-ballistic requirements – so, tosupport our customers in using Dyneema® SB125 in ballistic applications, we’ve gathered performance data against multiple threats. More specifically, we carried out testing according to various standards and 10-year lifetime expectancy calculations on everything from 17 gr FSP to 7.62x25 mm and from 9 mm to a .44 Magnum.

By sharing this data with our partners, we aim to help significantly shorten their development processes – just one more way in which Dyneema® is with you when it matters, always!
